I find it weird at the extent some fans will go to confirm their non-canon ship, despite the author’s original intent, and will put down anything that threatens it. Some times to the degree of getting defensive if someone has a differing point of view (or ship). By all means, ship whatever you like. Have fun, it’s a fantasy and take it for what it is.
I wouldn’t mind a show where the main characters are a gay couple. I hope we’re over the days where being gay was a dark secret, and something to be ashamed of.
Also, I wouldn’t call the show fully gay-positive. But the fandom is.
